My father-in-law was a real estate agent for more than 50 years. His mobile phone was always nestled in his breast pocket. I remember him constantly picking up calls, moving deals forward and catching up on paperwork.

During his career, the tools he worked with evolved massively. Think about instantly distributing a listing via MLS versus publishing it in the paper and trying to spread word of mouth. However, even with some new technology, the amount of admin my father-in-law handled every day did not meaningfully change. In fact it increased, with new documentation requirements, new regulations, and client expectations that an agent should always be available.
